White House Chimney Removal and Roof Repair

Since we are planning a new heating system for the white rental house, we decided to take down the chimney and remove the wood stove. Here, Frank is starting the dismantle.

First blocks off showing the flue liner.

We had to get it down below roof level so we could cover with tarp for the night of rain.

On Thursday we framed the hole and covered with plywood, then put down new paper and shingles.

Notice it has gotten dark just as we finished.

Then we went inside and began removing the blocks and liners there. Quite a mess but glad to be progressing.

Roof is the uppermost covering of the building that protects us from the harmful effects of changing weather and other climatic conditions. Roof protects our valuable assets from rain, wind, snow, cold, heat and sunlight in particular.

You guys did a great job fixing your roof and removing the stove. Those are some DIY skills you have there. Have you considered calling experts to do it for you? I mean, there are times when you want to be sure that the roof's going to be all okay, right?

You guys are good at doing these DIY house repairs. I had our roofing done by some contractors because my husband is not the handyman type of guy, but I guess I’d prefer that experts do it too.

That’s some great work! It looks like a tough job. Usually I just hire pros to do all those repairs for me to make sure that everything is done right.
