Pickled Banana Peppers

We have a lot of Banana Peppers so I pickled some.

Chow-Chow

I made a large batch of Chow-Chow yesterday. I don't usually put it into quart jars, but since canning supplies are very hard to find, I decided that quarts would be a better use of limited lids.

I got:     6 Quarts, far left one is Eddie's sugar-free hot version.

4 Pints, far left one is Aaron's extra hot version.

4 1/2 Pints in little squat jars.

About a cup of leftover with yellow lid that I will use first.

Our big garden

As you can see, Keith and Denise have a large plot of garden that they share with me and Eddie and Trudi. We have Corn, Beans, Okra, Yellow and Zucchini Squash, Cucumbers, Lots of Peppers and Tomatoes, Green and Red Cabbage, Watermelon, Decorative and Pie Pumpkins, Onions, Kale, Spinash, Turnips, Potatoes, Japanese Eggplant and maybe some things I can't think of now.

Box Gardens

I have a nice crop of Romaine Lettuce and Radishes, and a start of Carrots and SwissChard.

And I built another really raised bed on top of an old picnic table. I made the box, freestanding on table, from deck boards.

Then I lined with landscape fabric.

I added a layer of leaves, then garden soil mixed with my compost. I planted radishes and will have room for the Bok Choy that I am starting in greenhouse, they're just about an inch tall now, so will wait a few days to transplant.

The compost pile was hard to dig in because of little roots so I tilled it and it's much easier to get out.

Cleaned Picnic Tables

I pressure washed the picnic tables and resealed them. I did get a before and after picture, kinda.

Pressure washing deck

I finally bought an electric pressure washer.
Partially washed.
Finished sealing the deck floor so we can put out furniture and supplies. Will seal rails and frame later.
Then filled with soil and mixed in compost.
A couple of pics of plants in greenhouse.
While I was getting compost, Keith pulled up stakes and gate from old dog lot where I had collected compost. Nice clear spot in the woods now.

New raised bed

I have wanted a small raised bed nearer the house to grow some salad greens, radishes, carrots and such. After we burned the big brush pile, it seemed the perfect place. Keith dug out an area and built the 4 X 8 box. I put in landscape cloth and added a layer of leaves. For some reason, I cannot add the pictures I intended to. I'll have to figure that out.
